This post was published long ago when I was a student and amateur blogger.
I rarely wacth movies but never miss the ones of SRK. Will be always waiting to watch his movies if not at Multi-Plex, my home Theator atleast.
Much awaited “Billu” (barber was removed due to contraversies) was released on 12 February 2009. I was pretty busy with other stuff and no chance to goto theatre. Was just awaiting for the movie to be available on the internet. Finally I downloaded it through torrent yesterday(14 Febraury). GIT College Internet Rocks (Only @ night !), movie got downloaded in around 90 minutes.
It was around 11.30pm Saturday so there was no problem to sit and watch it till late night without worries to goto college on next day. The print was quite good but only drawback was I couldn’t forward in between the movie. So the movie started with an close view of stuff in barbers shop.
Plot:
The story is set in today’s day and age. Billu (Irrfan Khan) plays a village barber. His business is running low because he has not been able to upgrade himself according to the changing trends.
One fine day, a film unit visits his village to shoot a movie. It stars a superstar, Sahir Khan (Shahrukh Khan), who Billu claims to have been friends with. All at once, Billu’s status in the village changes, and he becomes highly respected.
Everyone wants him to meet the superstar through Billu. But Billu is unsure, as he feels he cannot compare to the superstar’s status. Besides, he fears that the star may not recognize him. He makes many attempts to meet the star but fails.
After all these hardships, he gives up. The villages believe he lied about the relationship with the star and insult him. His family and children also get upset and badmouth him. In a twist towards the end, the true extent of the friendship Billu and the superstar is revealed.
The speech by SRK at an School function at the end touched my heart. I couldn’t control the emotions at the climax as usual and some drops fell from my eyes.
The film story is dubbed from Super Flop Rajikath film. There is nothing much special in the film. The scenes are awesome. Songs are good with dance from Deepika Padokone and Kareena Kapoor. Totally the movie is watch worthy. Enjoy !
